Front bumpers are soft and made of plastic so over time they become chipped up by rocks and stained with bug splatter. A ceramic coating is great for ease of clean and maintaining a high gloss. The only thing they cannot do is protect from rock chips. This is where PPF comes in. PPF is a thick, durable shock absorbing material that is put on the exterior painted parts of your vehicle and it will prevent rocks and bugs from leaving permanent marks in your paint. Trained PPF techs cut and custom fit this film to conform to your car's exterior contours. PPF is typically 8 mils thick. To give you a frame of reference, contractor garbage bags are usually 5-7 mils thick. PPF has the ability to heal itself from light scratches and scuff. PPF can also be ceramic coated to bring back the easy to clean properties that a coating offers.
Length of PPF life is dependent upon quality of the brand, if it is ceramic coated and if it was installed properly. Most PPF is warrantied for 10 years but will most likely last longer than that. Keep in minds that tiny bubbles and dirt on the edges of PPF is normal. PPF is not made to be perfect but it is made to protect the paint underneath from rock damage. Combining PPF and a ceramic coating is a 1-2 punch against nature. If PPF is not in the budget than stick with a coating, especially if you don't drive much on the highway.
There are 3 levels of PPF coverage.
