Paint correction is the process of restoring the clear coat to the original finish. Using a machine polisher, the paint work is restored to a beautiful, clear lustre using an assortment of pads and polishes. This is a crucial step prior to installing a ceramic coating. Failing to properly machine polish the paint will cause the coating to fail or underperform.
Removing as little clear coat as possible is the goal. There is a limited amount of clear coat thickness. The more that is removed, the less there is to be protected.
In some cases where the clear coat has been scratched, neglected, and worn down to a thin layer, a clear coat restoration process is necessary.
Clear coat restoration is the process of adding clear coat back onto the problem factory clear coat areas. If the clear is peeling, then repainting is the only option. This process is for dull, faded, oxidized, heavily scuffed clear coat where polishing would be ineffective. It is the most cost effective solution to either repainting or costly paint correction.
